I’ve put a lot of time, effort and money into building the school and it just hasn’t gotten to where it needs to go.

I’ve learnt a lot from MMA, developed some fantastic friendships, and Spartan MMA has been a wonderful experience and has brought me a long way personally.

However, the school hasn’t progressed as much as it needs to, and I can no longer continue putting resources into something that isn’t returning the investment.

I’ve spoken to Dave Jones of Next Generation Ireland and he’s more than happy to train you guys at his place. Dylan Costigan also runs a Next Gen school in Clondalkin as well.

Our last session will be on Wednesday, March 22nd at 7pm. It’d be great if everyone who has trained with us could make it down for one last class.

Thanks to everyone who’ve trained with us during the time we’ve been open, and I wish you every success in your future MMA careers.

Rather than spend an hour going over how to wrap your hands, here’s a good video. Get the wraps and practice for a bit so we don’t spend unnecessary time wrapping our hands.

We’d like everyone to bring down at least one friend to try out Spartan MMA during February. We’ve a great new premises, Mick’s Stand Up Class is really taking off and you all know, the more people you have to train with, the better everyone gets and everyone progresses faster.

As if that wasn’t enough incentive there’ll be a prize for whoever gets the most people down and signed up!

Mick “Sissy Boy” Leonard will be taking a stand up class tomorrow night. Everyone should make it down to this.

For those of you who’ve sparred with Mick in training, you know both
A) How Good is he is at this, and
B) How he can scale the intensity up and down to suit your skill level.

Here’s a clip of Mick at Ring of Truth, it’s not the best quality vid but that knee cut his opponent open and won Mick a Doctor’s Stoppage in round 3 of a tough fight.

Over a very hectic Christmas period we signed a new lease and finished up in Tallaght. Hope you guys are rested and ready for action because our new place promises to be great.

It’s located in Unit 3D, Three Rock Road, Sandyford Industrial Estate, Dublin 18. It’s over 3500 square feet of space (Tallaght was about 1100 square feet) so it’s a lot roomier than before, and has a reception area, changing rooms, and Bill’s even organising a coffee machine for us.

Sandyford is where we need to be in order to grow and thrive, and I really hope you can make the move. I understand that for some of you guys, getting out here might be a bit tricky. Luckily, the 75 bus route goes through Sandyford Industrial Estate, leaving you about a 3-5 minute walk depending on whether it passes past the Beacon or the Luas.

You’ve built a great club up in Tallaght, and there’s a brilliant sense of camaraderie between all you guys, so I’m sure you can help each other out with lifts during the first few weeks while we find our feet.

During this time, we’ll only have classes on at 7pm Mon-Thur and Sat at 12. Once we’ve settled, we’ll be able to figure out what’s the best schedule moving forward.
